
According to the vote count results announced by Tanzania's National Electoral Commission on November 1st, Hassan won nearly 32 million votes in this presidential election, with a vote rate as high as 97.66%.
In her inauguration speech, Hassan stated that she would make every effort to safeguard national solidarity and unity, dedicate herself to promoting the well-being of the people, ensure national security, and build a peaceful and prosperous society. She emphasized, "Tanzania is far more important than any individual's interests."
Born in January 1960, Hassan was first elected Vice President of Tanzania in 2015 and re-elected in October 2020. In March 2021, she succeeded Magufuli, who passed away due to illness, as president, serving a term until 2025.
The general election voting was held on October 29th. On the same day, demonstrations broke out in some parts of Tanzania, with some people calling for the advancement of electoral reforms. The Tanzanian government subsequently announced a curfew in Dar es Salaam. It is reported that network services across Tanzania were restricted or interrupted from noon on October 29th to noon on November 3rd. Government institutions and banks in Dar es Salaam remained closed, and several airlines canceled flights to the city.
Hassan had previously called on the public to maintain peace and oppose violence, stating that violence violates Tanzania's values.
